Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work days and reports of decreased ability to perform activity in the United States. Your back, along with your abdominal (stomach) muscles encompass what is called your "core". It is called this because this area of your body basically provides all of the support that the rest of your body needs to function and keep upright. Without this area of your body, you would simply fall over, as you would no longer have any support to hold you upright. As you can see, maintaining proper strength and flexibilty in this area is very important to being able to perform every day activities. This is also why when you have a back injury, it can be so difficult to do many activities that you normally are able to do easily. The Physical Therapist will work with you to strengthen up the areas of weakness, as well as give you strategies to help prevent back injuries in the future.
