HEADACHES

As anyone who has ever had a headache knows, they can be a very debilitating issue to have to deal and live with. There are multiple reasons that you can be having headaches, and sometimes it is a combination of reasons. Stress is a major contributing factor as to why people have headaches. Stress can cause increased tension in the muscles surrounding your neck and shoulders. This increased tension can then lead to the joints in your neck not being able to move or be positioned the way that they should be. Increased muscualr tension on its own can cause pain due to the muscles not being able to properly relax. This then can lead to spasms causing headaches. Posture can also play a large role in headahces. That slouched posture that many people have, especially when working at a desk or computer for long hours can make the problem of muscular tension and neck joint problems worse, causing headaches to be worse. Physical Therapists can help you address these issues by providing appropriate flexibility and strengthening exercises as well as postural education that can help to alleviate headaches throughout the day.
