Wrist and Hand Pain
Very similar to the elbow, the wrist and hand have many bones, muscles and nerves running through and around them. The number of each of these structres is increased as compared to the elbow, however. Due to this, the hand and wrist are even more complicated and offer many more reasons for pain to occur. As with the elbow, overuse is many times the cause of hand and wrist pain when it is not directly related to an injury or surgery. During the evaluation, the Physical Therapist will take measurements of of well the affected joints move, the strength of the muscles in and around the wirst and hand, and ask you questions regarding the pain. All of this information together will allow the Physical Therapist to determine the best course of treatment to help alleviate your pain.
